We usually prefer doing photoshoots during the day when lighting is easiest but we seem to have a habit of pushing our abilities and seeing what we are capable of. This photo was part of a set we did during the winter in Portland. We took a group of models and friends down to the Winter Lights Festival by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and experimented with some crazy lighting.
Lighting, as pretty much every photographer will tell you, is the most important part of taking an picture. It is what determines if the picture is high quality or not. If the lighting is even slightly off, the consumer will notice and will not enjoy the picture. That is why we always try to have high quality lighting. But at the light festival we had to use a variety of techniques to get the perfect photos.
Lucky for us, we had some extremely talented and patient models accompanying us. These girls and guys were amazing and let us take pictures of them for hours in front of tons of differently lit backgrounds. This specific picture was taken in front of a projector that was projecting a variety of changing colors onto the side of a building. We spent way too much time taking pictures at this spot but we are so glad we did because the photos turned out so amazing.
